Bring Your Child to Work Day!

Yesterday was "Bring Your Child to Work" day! So, at 8:00 AM I picked up Mallory and we headed to SelectHealth for a day on the job. We started the day with a little meet and greet with the other kids and their parents. Mals had to introduce me to the group and tell them what I do for my job! She leaned over to me and said, "Now all you do all day is say "NO", right?" Ha-Ha, very funny Mals! But she actually stood up and introduced me. I think a few people even heard her too (she hates to talk in front of people). Then the real fun began! I got to put Mallory to work. She helped prepare old files to be scanned. She was actually a big help!

She did tell me that my work is boring. When I asked her why, she replied "There were no animals, duh Mom!" All I know is that girl better work with animals when she grows up! Or maybe at Google where she can take her pets to work with her! Who knows she may just end up being some weird "cat lady"! It was a good day!

Mackay...

So, I just had to make a little note about Mackay...He may have entered my life sooner than expected but I fell in love with him the moment we met. I never thought I could love anyone that much! And from then on he has filled my life with joy, excitement, worry, pride, hope, prayer...and all the other things that come with parenthood. I have watched him grow from a rollie-pollie bald headed baby to a lean, wavy-haired young man. I haven't been a perfect mother-that is for sure. I have made more mistakes than I care to think about but I love him more than words can express! On Saturday, this is what I saw...

What a site! My son is almost 18! He will graduate from high school in just over a year. My time with him is quickly passing! He will soon be on his own, making tough decisions, living the life he chooses. I just hope that when he is out there in the big, mean world that he knows no matter what he does or where he is.....someone loves him! And her name is "MOM."

peace.

peace.
it does not mean to be in a place
where there is no noise, trouble
or hard work. it means to be in
the midst of those things and still
be calm in your heart.
(unknown)
So, I have this quote posted on my computer at work but I haven't been paying much attention to it lately. I have been letting the problems of the outside world interfere with my inner peace. I have been trying to control what I can't control...I have been trying to disguise the turmoil that troubles my mind. And all I have done is stirred up the noise...and let the anguish push me around.
And there he is, my sweet Jared, my "sunshine", standing beside me, holding me as I cry, knowing what to say, waiting so patiently as I figure out for myself what I have to do to regain the PEACE that my life brings to my heart and mind. And I am the one with the power to make it happen! No matter what life throws at me I must be at peace...it is not gone-it is always there, I just have to reach out and grab it...
Yesterday, I reclaimed some peace. With the morning light, sunshine warmed my heart and I felt true peace, true happiness, true love. Now all I can do is cling to the feeling he brings me...calm in my heart and peace in my soul.

Spring Break......a much needed get away!

Okay, I know I have not blogged for quite a while but there is a reason......LIFE IS INSANE! And who wants to read about insanity? Some insanity has been good, some not so good so I delayed the blogging. But now I have something happy to blog about! The house is almost done (hopefully this week)!! Woo Hoo! Jared and I went from sharing a bedroom with Isabelle and Gracie to now sleeping on the kitchen floor. It is truly cauous (is that spelled right?)! Little Mals has been on the couch in the basement. With the kids out of school and five people out of six with no bedrooms.....it seemed to be the perfect time to GET AWAY! So, we headed south! It was great! Of course there were a few bumps along the way....four kids is very different than two....but all in all we had a GLORIOUS time! We bowled, went to Jumpin Jacks, ate, went swimming, ate, took the kiddies to Zion National Park, and ate (a lot)! Our friends, Jay, Jen, Hailee, and Cassity Willis joined us! Grandma and Grandpa Nielsen led the tour of Zion. They were awesome! Here are some shots of our trip!
