Autumn is on its way!

I don't know what it is about school starting but I start thinking about AUTUMN....my favorite time of the year! The trees are green and the days are still warm, yet I am still getting excited for fall! I love fall for so many reasons....the days are still warm and filled with sunshine, the colors are glorious, fall clothing hits the stores, there are tons of vegetables being harvested, the geese hang out on the lawn at SelectHealth. Even for the kids, the lazy days of summer change into busy days of homework and school activities. I know Autumn is not here yet but I am anxiously waiting to go on a drive like this.....

It's all about first impressions...

So, Mals had the assignment to write a five paragraph paper on a pet peeve (for English).....So what does she choose to write about? NOSE PICKERS! Bru-ther! Even though there is so much to say about nose picking....she got a little stumped and asked for some help. She told me she can't write stories. So, Jared, Mackay, Mals and I sat around the kitchen table sharing our thoughts about nose pickers and LAUGHED! Today she has to read her paper "out loud" to her class! What will Mrs. Sagers think??? Mals doesn't say much at school and when she reads to her class how she thinks nose pickers are scratching their tiny brains.....Oh, heavens.....I can't wait to hear all about it! She is quite a character! She may be a story teller after all!

Has anyone ever mentioned you look like "House?"

I think I have mentioned that I love the TV show "House." It is such an addicting show. Now I have Mackay hooked. Anyway...I work with a guy who reminds me so much of "Gregory House." Funny thing is his name is Greg too. I asked him the other day if anyone has ever told him he looks like House? He just looked at me and said, "Only 10 Times a Day!" What do you think?

For some reason Greg won't give me any medical advise.....Maybe it's because this "House" is an attorney!

A successful hunt!

Last night I received a wonderful text from Jared...
He got his deer yesterday! He is so thrilled! (can't you just see it in his face? haha) It is an awesome deer with a 28 inch spread. He worked so hard to prepare for this hunt! I am so happy his hard work paid off!
I have to say THANKS to all the "Johnson" boys who helped out! Jared has a great family and I appreciate them all so much!

Presby-what-ia?????

I have been having a little trouble with my vision lately....Wait....didn't I have LASIK???? Why, yes I did! Apparently, it doesn't stop the AGING process!! WHAT?? Last year I got some glasses to help clear things up a bit because my asigmatism regressed just a bit. Well, my glasses didn't seem to be helping. So, I went down to the trusty eye doctor and SHAZAM I found out I have PRESBYOPIA!!! Huh? I guess when a person ages (who me?) she begins to lose the elasticity of the crystalline lens, making it harder to focus! OK?!?!? What does that mean for me??? I am not ready for the "B" word quite yet...so I will be getting another pair of glasses...a special pair just for work. How fun! Getting old is rough!

Mango Margaritas!

The bow hunt started today so Jared has left us until next Friday, unless he gets his deer before then. Most of the summer has been spent scouting for deer, shooting, and preparing for this hunt. So, we have had to find ways to entertain ourselves....

So, the other night we had french toast and MANGO MARGARITAS (virgin of course) for dinner! Mackay was so kind to make french toast-his special way-for all us girls. The mango margaritas were my idea! It was fun!

Today, the three girls and I went shopping for school clothes! Why didn't someone tell me that three against one in a shopping situation would not work in my favor? I AM TIRED! But all of the girls got some cute clothes and shoes. We are almost ready for school!

I miss Jared!!!! (And it has only been one day....It's going to be a long week without him!)

I’ve gone back and forth trying to decide if I should really post these thoughts or not....As you can see I made the choice to post them. But before you read any further please note, this post is not directed to anyone specific. They are just my thoughts and feelings and hoping if I put them in black and white, I might be able to make more sense of them. I have been thinking a lot about FREE AGENCY, our human right to choose. Now, I am one who has made many wrong choices throughout my life and I have been thinking lately…..Why did I make those bad decisions? Why do we, as humans, make decisions we KNOW will have negative consequences? Do we just not care? Do we not believe there will be a consequence to our actions? Is it too hard to make the right choices sometimes? Do we accept the consequence thinking it’s not that bad….I can fix it later? And, I just don’t know the answer!!

I found an article by Pres. Thomas S. Monson that was published in the New Era back in 1973, where he described the Three R’s of Free Agency-RIGHT, RESPONSIBILITY, and RESULTS. He made the following points…

1. We have been given the right to choose by a wise and loving Heavenly Father.

2. We also have the responsibility to choose. We cannot be neutral…The Lord knows this and Lucifer knows this.

3. In addition to the right of choice and the responsibility of choice,we must consider the results of our choices.

How many times have you made decisions without considering the results? We have been taught right from wrong since we were little children-so why are there times when the line between the two is blurry and hard to see? Especially, when others around us can! How many times have you wondered to yourself, why does he do that? I see so many people, including myself, wasting their free agency on things that just don’t matter…things that will ultimately make them unhappy. And how many times have you been blessed when you made the right decision? Obviously, no one is perfect and we all make mistakes but some days I just shake my head and think, why did I do that? That was so dumb!

“I testify that when we choose to do that which is right, the results of our choices will bring joy and happiness to our souls…” -Thomas S. Monson

Stock Show-final day

One more stock show has come and gone. The last day of the show is the auction...the day all the hard work finally "pays" off! I think Mallory was pretty happy with the auction results...

Lamb One sold for $700

Lamb Two sold for $500.00

SHE WAS HAPPY!
