My day with the Xander man!

Angie and Dave FINALLY let me babysit the Xander Man! We started to clean the basement but little Xander needed me to hold him (I just know it). So, we sat and just enjoyed the day. We watched a little "Band of Brothers" and ate a frozen, weight watcher approved lunch (yum!?)...well, Xander had a bottle...It was so nice to hang out with my littlest nephew. He actually looks a bit like Mackay did back in the day....

He blew bubbles for me....We hugged "rabby"....and took a nap...

It was AWESOME! Can you think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon???

Construction Update

The addition is on its way! Now if we could get a little more cooperation from Mother Nature! But just seeing walls makes me more excited all the time! It will be an interesting couple of months. But it will all be worth it in the long run.....

19 years and counting.....

Nineteen years ago today, at age 19, I became a full-time, permanent employee at a little company named IHC Health Plans. Back then the company was small enough to have "company- wide" monthly birthday parties. We knew the Executive Team not just as executives but as friends. Those were the days! Since then I have watched this company change from IHC Health Plans to SelectHealth. I have watched us grow out of the two small floors we inhabitated in a building downtown to a brand new, six floor building all our own (well, in 2010). I have worked with some great people and made life-long friends. I have been given opportunities to learn and grow. Working here has helped me to become the the woman I am today. The young girl with very little life experience and bushy eyebrows has become one of the "old timers"...and looking at the next generation of employees and wondering if they will ever be as smart as I am!?!? Now I look forward to retirement.......in another 19 years!

No matter how much you want to.....DON'T iron your clothes while you are wearing them!

What a morning! It should have been smooth but yet it wasn't. I think I have made my hair woes clear so we don't need to go there today. With spring in the air (at least for today) I pulled out a skirt that I love. It needed to be ironed but I really didn't want to bring the ironing board up from the basement. So, I grabbed the iron, laid the skirt on the bed, and ironed away. It looked okay on the bed but when I put it on I saw it still needed help. Apparently, there is a reason for the board (DUH). So, I got the BRILLIANT idea to run the iron across the skirt a little more....Yes, I am wearing it! Did I even think about the fact that steam would be shooting out of that bad boy? NO! I quickly realized the magnitude of my decision....OUCH! Luckily, I am quicker with my hands than I am with my brain today. It hurt but there was no serious damage. So, on with the morning.....I threw my hair back into a barrette and realized my face was feeling ultra dry. I grabbed my HAND lotion off the counter and rubbed a little on my face...right into my EYE! OUCH! At this point I am thinking to myself.....If this is how my whole day is going to be I am getting back in bed! I grab my purse and head for the door, praying that doom and gloom are not in my immediate future.....When I see this

Instant SMILE! Have I told you lately how AWESOME Jared is???? It was exactly what I needed! In that moment I knew that I could face the big, bad insurance world because when I get home Jared will be there! I am so lucky!

Bad Hair Day!

There is nothing like a bad hair day to get a woman into the salon! And that can be a scary proposition. If I could get in today......Jared would not be happy 'cause my hair would be cut off! I have decided to grow my bangs back out (am I crazy?) and I am not giving myself enough time to actually "do" my hair in the morning. So, basically I look like crap every day! My next call will be to Camille-the one who always makes things better-pray she can get me in this week! Until then I will be in a nasty, pinned-up ponytail and dodging everyone I know. For the rest of today I will be hiding out in my office...Waiting for 5 o'clock to get here so I can run out to the car. For those of you having a great hair day.....Don't stop by, I don't want to see you!
